Ingram Micro e-Solutioins Group EuropeT announces European partnership with CNET DataServices, implementing CNET's Transactive Product DataT (TPDT) in its local reseller Web sites.

Brussels March 7, 2001 - Ingram Micro Europe, the European division of Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM), the largest global wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services, today announced it has upgraded its reseller Web site with many new enhancements including the implementation of localized product data through a European partnership with CNET DataServicesT. CNET DataServices is a provider of critical technology product information and part of CNET Channel, a business unit of CNET Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNET).

Ingram Micro Europe is licensing CNET DataServices' TPD to expand product content offerings on its European reseller web sites, enhancing the purchasing experience for more than 70,000 resellers European wide. Ingram Micro first announced a worldwide partnership with CNET DataServices in February 2000.

With the integration of CNET DataServices' TPD, Ingram Micro can provide comprehensive, up-to-date, Internet-ready product data, allowing faster and easier access to essential purchasing information for resellers throughout Europe. The CNET-branded product data will provide improved viewing of product features and supports Ingram Micro's objective to continue rapidly expanding its online commerce with resellers.

CNET DataServices' product information is integrated into Ingram Micro resellers sites in France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Denmark and Finland. All product data is localized to reflect local market needs, and is currently offered on Ingram Micro sites in English, French, Italian and Spanish languages. Other languages including Danish and Finnish will be available in the next months. Ingram Micro reseller sites in the United Kingdom, Belgium and The Netherlands already offer product data in the English language.

CNET DataServices' TPD is an extensive multi-lingual database providing computer product descriptions, images and specifications for more than 600,000 product SKUs worldwide. TPD provides critical product information to manufacturers, distributors, e-tailers and resellers, and is constructed to greatly enhance the purchase decisions of computer product resellers sourcing and procuring products online. In addition to the integration of product data information, the company's local country web sites will feature other improvements to enhance the online buying experience for Ingram Micro resellers across Europe.

  • Navigation and lay-out will be improved by using more simple and easy to use top navigation, allowing users to access the different pages quicker.
  • Increased personalized interaction. Users will receive an instant order confirmation by email, after placing orders through the web, confirming the order details and status to the customer. In addition, the morning after the order has been shipped, the reseller will receive a personal shipment notification providing the reseller with all shipping details and allowing him to prepare for receipt of the products that day. New personalized "User Profile" screens, to be managed online by each user, allows Ingram Micro to increase service levels by conducting personalized interaction.
  • New search function is added for end-of-life and promotional products with significant discounts.
  • Enhanced order status search and simplified data entry. In addition, on the search results for backorder items, ETA's will be added providing the reseller with more information on open orders.
